Abstract
BACKGROUND:
Platform shoulder arthroplasty systems may allow conversion to a reverse total shoulderarthroplasty (RTSA) without removing a well-fixed, well-positioned humeral stem. We sought to evaluate the complications associated with humeral stem exchange versus retention in patients undergoing conversion shoulder arthroplasty with a platform shoulder arthroplasty system.
CONCLUSION:
Conversion arthroplasty with retention of the humeral stem is associated with lower overall complications, blood loss, operative time, and reoperations in comparison with stem exchange.

Resumen
ANTECEDENTES:
Los sistemas de artroplastia de hombro de plataforma pueden permitir la conversión a una artroplastia total de hombro inversa (RTSA) sin extirpar un vástago humeral bien posicionado y bien posicionado. Intentamos evaluar las complicaciones asociadas con el intercambio de vástago humeral versus la retención en pacientes sometidos a artroplastia de hombro de conversión con un sistema de artroplastia de hombro de plataforma.
CONCLUSIÓN:
La artroplastia de conversión con retención del vástago humeral se asocia con menores complicaciones generales, pérdida de sangre, tiempo quirúrgico y reintervenciones en comparación con el intercambio del vástago.
