Cuando miramos un objeto cercano sobre un fondo más distante, somos capaces de percibir el espacio que hay en medio. Sin embargo, una de cada veinte personas ve el mundo como si fuese plano. Muchas, ni siquiera son conscientes de su carencia pero, con una terapia adecuada, pueden lograr ver el mundo en tres dimensiones.

Susan Barry, neurocientífica y autora del libro El mundo en estéreo, fue una de estas personas. En este capítulo de Redes, explica a Eduard Punset las maravillas de la visión estereoscópica.

Parálisis facial tratado con acupuntura

El propósito de este estudio fué la observación de la eficacia de la acupuntura en el tratamiento de la parálisis facial periférica aguda.

120 pacientes con parálisis facial se dividieron al azar en un grupo de observación y un grupo control, 60 casos en cada grupo. Ambos grupos fueron tratados con la medicación de rutina, y el grupo de observación fueron tratados con los siguientes puntos de acupuntura como puntos principales: Yifeng (17TR), Wangu (12VB), Dicang (4E), Jiache (6E), Yangbai (14VB), Taiyang (EX-HN-5), Qianzheng (EX-HN-17), Cuanzhu (2V) en el lado afectado y Hegu (4IG) en el lado no afectado.

La tasas de recuperación fueron del 88,3% (53/60) en el grupo de observación y un 66,7% (40/60) en el grupo control (p <0,01),>la acupuntura puede mejorar el efecto terapéutico y también acortar el curso de la etapa de recuperación en la parálisis facial periférica aguda.
