Posted: 04 Mar 2011 01:55 AM PST Aunque solamente sea para variar, es genial encontrar investigación en el sentido de esta: un nuevo estudio muestra que chequear nuestro perfil en Facebook aumenta la autoestima. Publicado en el Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking journal, el estudio en cuestión, de dos investigadores de Cornell parte de las siguientes premisas y llega a las siguientes conclusiones: “Pienso que decir que Facebook es bueno o malo es simplista, comenta Amy Gonzales. Pero tanto internet como facebook son lugares importantes para la psicología humana actual. Este es solo un pequeño estudio de toda una serie que irá en ese sentido.” El estudio consistió en reunir a 63 estudiantes frente a ordenadores, mostrando en algunas pantallas sus perfiles de Facebook mientras que en otras no se mostraba nada y en otros casos existía un espejo en lugar de la red social. Durante 3 minutos los que pudieron hacerlo surfearon su perfil en FB e inmediatamente después, todos respondieron a un cuestionario de autoestima. Así, los estudiantes que editaron sus perfiles durante los tres minutos reportaron los niveles más altos de autoestima. En el caso del espejo nos recuerda quienes somos realmente, pudiendo generar efectos negativos en la autoestima si la imagen no cuadra con nuestro ideal. En cambio, Facebook, creado a imagen y semejanza de lo que pensamos puede que nos refleje, si no de forma engañosa, sí de forma sesgada hacia lo positivo. Aunque puede tratarse de algo generalizable a otras redes sociales, el equipo comenta que investigará si el tema se produce al editar fotos, presentarse o al recibir comentarios en el muro. También pretenden ir más allá y analizar si el uso de los medios, en general, nos hace más o menos felices. Por último parece que también es ya objeto de investigación si son más o menos significativas las relaciones que establecemos en redes sociales o la vida real. La resistencia a los antimicrobianos es un hecho tremendamente preocupante para el ser humano. Se trata de un proceso que puede acarrear que dentro de algunas generaciones una gran parte de losmedicamentos que conocemos hoy en día no tengan efecto sobre el organismo a la hora de luchar contra las enfermedades. Los antibióticospodrían llegar a no hacer efecto sobre las enfermedades.
Esto se produce porque los microorganismos causantes de las enfermedades están experimentando cambios que les convierten en inmunes a los medicamentos que combaten la infección. De hecho hay ya microorganismos que resisten a la mayor parte de los medicamentos, es lo que se conoce como microorganismos ultrarresistentes.
La acción del ser humano esta propiciando además los cambios en los microorganismos por el uso inadecuado de los medicamentos. Tomar dosis insuficientes de medicamentos en los tratamientos o no finalizarlos esta propiciando que los microorganismos se adapten a ellos y desarrollen inmunidades. Los malos diagnósticos y la aplicación de medicamentos inadecuados o de mala calidad también contribuyen a ello.
